Advanced Contemporary Lab

Service Description

This weekly class is held at Danswest Dance Studios in Tucson and is intended for advanced and professional dancers ages 16+. Utilizing a foundation of modern dance concepts, conceptual experimentation, and improvisation this explorative class is a guide to building a contemporary dance practice and discovering your movement potential. Class begins with technical applications followed by guided and structured improvisational studies intended to warm the body while digging into new movement concepts and unearthing dormant versions of ourselves. Guided by a contact improvisation approach, we will experiment with shared weight concepts and practice connection and trust. We will expand upon these new possibilities through building extended phrasework. The ultimate goal of the class is to pursue the horizons of our creative potential while connecting with one another and participating in something bigger than ourselves.
